NetCrunch being an exquisitely versatile Network Monitoring Suite, is able to monitor Amazon Web Services using Amazon’s Simple Notification Service. Here’s an article, on how to configure your NetCrunch NMS to do so. It explains how to create an Amazon SNS webhook, how to specify the recipient endpoint in NetCrunch, and finally how to set an alarm on Amazon Cloudwatch.
To start the configuration you need to open the External Events window in NetCrunch and switch to Web Messages. Then you select the Amazon event log entry to create an alerting rule, choose the desired filters and either select or create a new alerting escalation script with relevant alerting actions.
Now, each message that Amazon sends to NetCrunch with the word “ALARM” in its subject parameter, NetCrunch will monitor and alert on.
